SNR Episode 11 - Community, Before and After

June 27th, 2009 (02:36 pm)

Websites mentioned:

St. Georges Episcopal in St. Louis, MN, stating what it sees as the problem of spirituality without religion.

The Worldwide Church of God (as of April 2009 the church has renamed itself Grace Communion International)

And the Wikipedia article about the church, to give some history.  I don't know what to say re: any bias in the article, except for one sentence which I'll quote here -- "While the WCG leadership has apologized over false teachings, no overt move has been made towards publicly admitting the past doctrines of the Church were in accord with the beliefs of the brethren."  The tone, and the use of the term 'brethren' to refer to the membership, suggests to me that at least one of the contributors still holds to the pre-1995 doctrines.

Shrink Rap Radio

April 12th, 2009 (09:19 pm)

I've mentioned Shrink Rap Radio in earlier episodes of SNR. Dr. David Van Nuys interviews psychology professionals in detail. You get in depth discussions of the latest theories in mental health, discussions about the history of psychology and helpful suggestions for taking care of your own mind. Cannot recommend it enough.

SNR Episode Eight - Prehistoric Play Therapy

Just a few of the many websites I found regarding play therapy

The British Association of Play Therapists

Authors and/or Books Mentioned

Darwin, Charles - "The Descent of Man", sadly cannot be obtained from Project Gutenberg or Librivox Audio Books.  I guess that means a free copy will have to come from your local library.

Armstrong, Karen - I would recommend either "A Short History of Myth" or "The Bible - A Biography".  A link to all her titles listed on Amazon.com:

Her video interview with journalist Bill Moyers is available at:
